Professor Stephen Porter has decades of experience and has seen and treated a wide diversity of oral-medicine related conditions. Professor Stephen Porter is Director of UCL Eastman Dental Institute and Professor of Oral Medicine. He is a consultant in Oral Medicine at University College Hospital, London and a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons.
Professor Stephen Porter has published more than 450 scholarly works, including the scientific journals The BMJ, The British Dental Journal and The Journal of the American Dental Association.
His clinical interests are the non-surgical management of complex immunologically-mediated and potentially malignant disease of the mouth and salivary glands.
His research interests centre upon the oral aspects of viral infection and the aetiology and detection of potentially malignant oral disease.

- Severe lichen planus, lupus erythematosus, hypersensitivity reactions and lichenoid reactions.

- Blistering conditions – pemphigoid and pemphigus.
- Xerostomia including Sjögren’s Syndrome.
- Oral ulceration, idiopathic or related to systemic disease.
- Diseases that involve the mouth and other parts of the gastrointestinal tract, such as Crohn’s, coeliac disease and nutritional deficiency states.
- Orofacial granulomatosis.
- Infectious diseases, viral and fungal infections.
- Oral manifestations of HIV.
- White and red patches in the mouth where there is either oral dysplasia or cancer.
- Non-dental facial pain.
- Burning mouth syndrome.
- Trigeminal neuralgia, idiopathic facial pain.
- Adverse side effects of drugs and other materials on the mouth.
