Producing results that look indistinguishable from a real natural tooth, and taking only one appointment to complete, what’s not to like about composite bonding?
This innovative cosmetic treatment can achieve everything, from creating a symmetrical smile and more pleasing tooth-to-tooth ratio, to addressing small fractures, gaps and chips with your teeth.
As opposed to veneers which cover the whole front surface of a tooth, composite bonding resins are applied directly to the tooth. It’s this technique that takes away the need for removing your tooth’s natural structure in order to improve its aesthetic. In short, composite bonding is treatment for anyone looking to go down the minimally-invasive route to a new and improved smile.
At Bespoke Dental Fulham, our approach to cosmetic dentistry is grounded in craftsmanship and diligence. Using fine layers of composite resin, the tooth or teeth in question can be gradually made to look natural, emulating the appearance of real tooth enamel and its translucency.
Composite bonding involves the direct placement of composite resin to a tooth. This direct application means the process is fast, and minimally invasive – we don’t have to send anything off to the dental technician to create, as it can be performed in a single appointment by your dentist. The colour of the resin is matched to your natural tooth shade, so no-one will know this new piece of resin is not part of your real teeth.
As we apply the fine layers of composite, a curing light is used to allow your dentist to mould it beautifully in place, and set it in position. The tooth is then polished to achieve that shine that is characteristic of real tooth enamel.
Composite Veneers involve a similar procedure to Composite Bonding and uses the same materials. The difference is, they address more substantial imperfections. Composite Veneers are used when the whole surface of the tooth needs to be covered, as opposed to Composite Bonding.
Your dentist will prepare the teeth for the application of the Composite Veneers, etching the enamel so that the material is able to support the adhesion. The adhesive is applied to the front of the tooth and the composite resin is applied and shaped into place. The Veneers are then hardened with a UV light, so that they remain durable.
